2022 Summit - Presenter Resources - Sarah Goodrum
From: Sarah Goodrum
Hello Attendee,
Thank you for attending my presentation on Building a Comprehensive Approach to School Safety at the CSSRC School Safety Summit in October.
You expressed interest in a list of funding options for school safety-related issues in Colorado. I'm writing to share information on three resources or opportunities.
First, my colleague Bill Woodward, Director of Training and Technical Assistance, put together the Truancy & Safety-Related Funding Options List of funding opportunities for school and community safety-related issues in Colorado. If you have questions about these resources, please email me or Bill (cc'd here) know. It's a lot of information, and we could walk you through it - if needed.
Second, we currently have two grants from the Bureau of Justice Assistance that can provide training support and resources on violence prevention programs and practices to Colorado schools:
-
Colorado Rural Schools Safety Project - to provide training and technical assistance on threat assessment and management, bystander/upstander reporting, information sharing, and an integrated system for safety to Colorado's rural schools. Schools can receive up to $2K to support the training of staff on safety programs and practices during out-of-contract hours. Contact: Amanda.Matthews@
colorado.edu -
Safe Communities Safe Schools Project - to provide training and technical assistance on a comprehensive approach to school safety to Colorado schools. This project supports school- or district-teams to develop individualized school safety action plans and select evidence-based or research-informed strategies, trainings, or programs to address data-identified areas of need. Finally, the Bureau of Justice Assistance also sometimes has grant opportunities available for school districts. These grant proposals can be time consuming and tedious, but they can also bring a lot of financial resources. Visit BUA's website - https://bja.ojp.gov/funding/
Let me know if I can provide additional information. I'm happy to talk further about these resources.
Thanks for all you do for students and schools in Colorado.
Warmest Regards,
Sarah
