Accessibility, Interpretation and Translation Support

The Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) is dedicated to providing welcoming, inclusive, and accessible services to all Coloradans and beyond, regardless of ability or language.

 

Report Digital Accessibility Barriers or Request Accommodations

At CDPS, we want everyone in Colorado to easily access the information and resources we provide. We welcome feedback on how to improve accessibility for users with disabilities, including requests for accommodations.

Examples of accommodation requests might include:

  • Alternative document format for online content (such as large print, Braille, or screen reader compatible)
  • Sign language interpretation for a meeting or event

  • Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind (CCDHHDB)
    • Connects people with support and resources to address the needs of the deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind communities.
  • Aira Live Visual Interpretation (Available 24/7)
    • With the Aira smartphone app, users can stream secure, live video to a professionally trained agent who interprets visual information being shared.
    • Free 30-minute sessions for Coloradans and visitors.

  • Relay Colorado, for Live Relay Services (available 24/7)
    • Free service that provides full telephone access to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, or speech-disabled.
    • Trained relay operators relay phone conversation between two callers so that those who use Teletypewriter (TTY) or Voice Carry-Over (VCO) phones can communicate with users of traditional (voice) phones.

Language Interpretation & Translation

CDPS is committed to language access, which means removing language barriers to ensure the public can engage with our services in a language they can understand.

Examples of language access requests might include:

  • Translating CDPS webpages or documents into your native language
  • Oral interpretation in your native language for CDPS meetings or services
  • Reporting language barriers and errors, such as inaccurate translations of CDPS documents

Note: For document and webpage requests, it may take several days to receive a professional translation. For quicker translation, we offer Google Translate on our webpages. To use it, activate the “Select Language” dropdown menu in the top right corner of any CDPS webpage. Google Translate works for most, but not all, Internet browsers. Google is a third-party provider, and CDPS is not responsible for the accuracy of the translation.
