2023 Youth Violence Prevention (YVP) Grant Program Awards Announced


Here is a new announcement regarding the 2023 Youth Violence Prevention (YVP) Grant Program Awards.
The State of Colorado’s legislature allocated $1,000,000 for the 2023 Youth Violence Prevention (YVP) Grant Program. The Office of School Safety received 42 grant applications for a total requested amount of $4,597,143.00. There are 12 entities selected to receive funding as directed by SB23-241.  Thank you to all of those who applied for the 2023 YPV.

Program Overview

The Youth Violence Prevention Grant program (YVP) enacted by SB 23-241 provides funding for rapid response grants to public schools, public charter schools, community-based organizations, and cities and counties with youth diversion or probation programs to address youth violence by developing strategies for preventing youth violence and strategies for youth violence intervention.

Eligibility

The program is open to public schools, public charter schools, community-based organizations, and cities and counties with youth diversion or probation programs 

Allowable Use

The purpose of the grant program is to provide rapid response grants to public schools, public charter schools, community-based organizations, and cities and counties with youth diversion or probation programs to address youth violence, develop strategies for prevention youth violence, and develop strategies for youth violence intervention. Grant recipients may use the money received through the grant program for the following purposes:

  1. Develop & implement strategies for the prevention of youth violence,
  2. Develop & implement strategies for youth violence intervention

Program Timeline:

Youth Violence Prevention Grant Period of Performance (POP) December 1, 2023- June 30, 2024. Please see application and award timeline below.

  • Announcement and Application Handbook Available on September 1, 2023.
  • Application Submission Deadline: November 13, 2023 (This is a change from
    the original application due date of October 13, 2023)
  • Notification of Funding Recommendations: November 27, 2023
  • Requests for Reconsiderations: December 4, 2023
