NEW - - Marijuana Use Prevention Resource Bank

The Colorado Department of Education created and maintains a Resource Bank for public schools consisting of evidence-based, research-based and promising materials and curricula pertaining to marijuana use prevention.

Colorado Department of Education Marijuana Use Prevention Resource Bank

This resource bank provides public schools in Colorado the tools necessary to help address marijuana in the age of legal recreational use for adults.

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE)

Colorado.gov/Marijuana: This website was created in 2014 and is managed and administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on behalf of the Office of the Governor and in partnership with a broad team of Colorado State agencies and partners. The Colorado.gov/marijuana was created to provide statewide current information for the general public about the laws, data and health effects of marijuana. The information available here will continually expand to feature a Spanish language version of the site, newly released data and public awareness campaigns to inform Coloradans.

."Good to Know" Connecting with Youth Groups Took Kit.
- In January 2015, the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment kicked off the Good to Know campaign to educate Colorado adults and visitors about the safe, legal and responsible use of retail marijuana. - When Colorado became one of the first states in the nation to open retail marijuana stores in 2014, the Colorado General Assembly mandated that the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) monitor the scientific data and medical literature on marijuana use patterns and health effects associated with marijuana use.

- The Tobacco Free Schools statute was amended in 2013 by Senate Bill 13-283 to require school districts to prohibit retail marijuana use on school property.

Smart Colorado formed after the 2012 passage of Amendment 64 to the Colorado Constitution, which legalized the sale and possession of recreational marijuana.

Yale Study: Marijuana May Really Be Gateway Drug

Article published Aug. 2012 in the Hartford Courant.
The study finds that marijuana use was associated with an increased likelihood of prescription drug abuse in 18-25 year old men and women.
