Hazing

Colorado Revised Statutes

HazingInfo.org

  • HazingInfo.org is a partnership between the University of Maine, the University of Washington Information School, and StopHazing.org, along with our founders, Jolayne Houtz and Hector Martinez, who lost their son, Sam, to hazing in 2019.
    • HazingInfo.org has created the Campus Hazing Database that includes data for nearly 1,500 public and private colleges and universities across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. The resource centralizes campus hazing information in one publicly accessible location for the first time.

Hazingpreventionnetwork.org

  • Hazingpreventionnetwork.org is a national organization dedicated to empowering people to prevent hazing, by providing education and resources, and building partnerships with others.

National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)

  • The National Federation of State High School Associations leads the development of education-based interscholastic sports and activities that help students succeed in their lives. NFHS sets directions for the future by building awareness and support, improving the participation experience, establishing consistent standards and rules for competition, and helping those who oversee high school sports and activities.

Hazing in High School Athletics

  • Creating an environment free from hazing may be impossible but there are steps that can be taken to help eliminate hazing. Following these steps will create an environment in which hazing is not accepted. It is always helpful to have students and parents sign a written statement agreeing to a policy that raises awareness of hazing and instills a sense of accountability in all stakeholders. When you unify the team in creating safe environments, everyone can enjoy athletics. (Source: NFHS.org | Sept. 2017)
