Informed Supervision for Schools Online Course

CSSRC provides no-cost online trainings through Co.Train.org. These trainings allow individuals, regardless of their location, to participate in training opportunities through computers or devices with an internet connection. This course is designed to provide school staff with a guide for working with juveniles who have committed sexually offending behavior. This course includes an explanation for when and why informed supervision is required, the school's responsibility, the qualifications of informed supervisors, and how to create a safety plan.

Prior to the enactment of this law, prosecutors' only option for charging teen sexting behavior (even among consenting friends) was felony exploitation of a child. The new law, which applies to behavior on or after January 1, 2018, is a tiered approach which separates abusive forms of sexting (such as malicious distribution) from consensual electronic exchange of explicit images.

Thorn and the Crimes against Children Research Center of the University of New Hampshire conducted an online survey of persons ages 18 to 25 who have been targets of threats to expose sexual images, or "sextortion" (n=1631). Respondents were recruited mainly through ads on Facebook and asked to complete anonymous surveys.
