Trainings on General School Safety

Comprehensive Safety Planning
This training can be customized to the needs of the school/district and typically includes a review of current emergency plans by the trainer prior to the training. Attendees, through a workshop style training, will look at and assess current needs/hazards within their plan and school, determine goals and objectives to meet these needs/hazards, develop a new plan or add to existing plans, prepare their plan for approval and finally learn how to implement their plan across their school/district.  This training follows the guidance of the federal government for those elements recommended to be included in high quality school emergency operations plans.

Cultural Considerations in School Safety
This 1 hour presentation examines current trends and laws around newcomer populations. It  provides information on the implementation of school safety strategies specifically for newcomer students in the five preparedness missions of an incident or emergency.

Incident Command, Introduction
In this training attendees will learn how their school/district can operationalize the Incident Command System (ICS) as envisioned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  Attendees will participate in discussions on what roles and responsibilities key school leaders have or may take on in the ICS and how the ICS can be accomplished in small, medium or large organizations.

Positive School Climate

In this training, participants learn about the significant positive impacts that school climate makes toward overall school safety, student achievement and engagement, and even staff wellness and retention. Strategies and components of a positive school climate will be identified along with related measurement tools for tracking growth. Finally, sample plans for continuous improvements toward a positive school climate will be examined. Many resources will also be provided.

Safe2Tell
The Safe 2 Tell training helps students understand how to report safety concerns confidentially and responsibly, how to recognize situations needing help, use Safe2Tell effectively, and ensure they understand the importance of protecting themselves and others while maintaining privacy and support.
