Trainings on Student well-being
Exploring the Impact of Gaming on Student Success
Through a partnership between the Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado and the Colorado Office of School Safety—and funded by the Responsible Gaming Grant Program through the Colorado Division of Gaming—a specialized training has been developed on Exploring the Impact of Gaming on Student Success. This program equips educators, counselors, and school leaders with tools to understand the impact of excessive video gaming on academic performance, attendance, and overall student well-being. It addresses the connection between video games and gambling, highlighting how many modern games incorporate gambling-like mechanics such as loot boxes, microtransactions, and chance-based rewards, which can normalize risk-taking behaviors and increase the likelihood of future gambling involvement. Modules are available for school professionals, parents/guardians and communities, and youth in middle and high school.
