Student Staff Summits
CSSRC staff have been conducting Student/Staff Summits around the state since 2018. The day consists of a keynote presentation and three workshops designed with topics of interest to students. Staff accompany groups of six middle or high school students in an effort to hear students’ perspectives on safety issues and suggestions for changes in their buildings.

Developed and delivered by The Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC)

This 8-hour course is meant for rural school districts and is an on-site course. The course is free for rural school districts, but districts would need to provide a classroom space for the course and have a minimum number of participants per course.

School Emergency Management Training Programs

Emergency Management Institute (EMI) offers courses supporting the implementation of National Incident Management System (NIMS),as well as general courses aimed at building school emergency management capacity. The U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and Education recommend all key personnel involved in school emergency management and incident response take the NIMS, ICS, and NRF training courses and support the implementation of NIMS.
